On the southern coast of Rethymno, on the shores of the Libyan Sea and just 37 km from the town of Rethymno, is the area where are located the two main campuses of the monastery Preveli: The monastery of St. John the Baptist (Lower Monastery) and Monastery of St. John the Theologian (Back Monastery). A short distance from the monasteries, the famous Preveli lake, in an idyllic landscape, gives special color to the area and impresses visitors.
